Ceildoor this week along with thousands of people up and down the country will run, walk, bake and dress up in order to raise money for Alzheimer’s Disease.

The word dementia describes a set of symptoms that may include memory loss, difficulties with thinking and problem solving. These changes are often small to start with. However for someone with dementia they become severe enough to affect the simplest of things in daily life. A person with dementia may also experience changes in their mood and showcase uncharacteristic behaviors. Dementia is caused when the brain becomes damaged by disease such as Alzheimer’s Disease.

Alzheimers is the most common cause of dementia, accounting for a huge 60-80% of cases. Statistics show that in 2017 approximately 44 million people around the world were diagnosed with Alzheimers. The exact cause for this terrible disease is still unknown and sadly once onset it is irreversible , however there are treatments that have shown to improve symptoms temporarily. Research continues tirelessly and currently shows that being female, high cholesterol and a history of head trauma are all high risk factors.

Ceildoor’s Cup cake day !

For the second year running our office manager Zoe baked some delicious treats, for our team here at Ceildoor. Our dedicated staff and customers all donated money in order to raise awareness for this much loved and respected charity. All the cakes went down a treat and altogether we managed to raise an amazing amount of money, and still we have money being donated. Please proceed to our twitter account link to see how much our final figure amounted to.https://twitter.com/Ceildoor

It is thanks to people like Zoe along with the support of her friends and family that the charity are able to continue making great progress. We hope to one day live in a world without the pain and agonizing upset of Alzheimers disease.
